In Progress, a small Minneapolis–based nonprofit organization whose work aims to diversify cultural dialogue, helped pave the way for new voices in the field of digital art making for Latino youth in the Crookston area.
The Fresh Voices program, supported through an Arts Board grant, empowers Latino youth in this rural part of the state, building confidence and strengthening appreciation of their skills as public speakers, media producers, and leaders. In addition, learning and creating digital art serves as a powerful tool in providing Latino youth the opportunity to amplify their voices, as they reflect on and explore issues on topics including cultural identity, education, family, and other important issues.
The Fresh Voices touring exhibit includes 40 digital prints that were selected from the EXCHANGE Arts Tour Program. The works present a diverse collection of pieces from four different communities.
