Twin Rivers Council for the Arts partnered with One Bright Star of Mankato to create artworks for families who had experienced the tragedy of losing a child.
As part of the recovery and healing process, seven artists were paired with seven families who had lost a child. Each artist met and engaged in conversations with family members, and families shared photos and stories, describing the child they lost.
These pieces came together for a special public exhibit, Celebrating Life: Essence through Art. The impact was profound. Families and community members were deeply moved and grateful. Families were also gifted these artworks by the artists.
The book displayed as part of this exhibit shares the journey and details of the artwork, child, and artist.
