Travis Erickson, Pipestone
$3,635; Master pipe maker Argus Dowdy of Skiatook, OK, will teach Travis Erickson pipe bowl inlay and porcupine quill wrapping techniques used in creating Native American pipestone pipes

Charlie Heymann, Winthrop
$3,917; Master sean nos (Irish) singer Charlie Heymann will teach his repertoire and technique of sean nos singing to Ciri Leigh Smith of Cambridge

Chad McAnally, Minneapolis
$3,707; Master Irish harpist Ann Heymann of Winthrop will teach Chad McAnally gaelic harp technique and repertoire


Caponi Art Park,Eagan
$5,000; to host a performance and an interpretive family workshop by the Nimely Pan-African Dance Company

Harmony Public Library, Harmony
$4,240; Minowa Wood Carvers will present three styles of woodcarving, all related to the carvers’ occupations. Konstantinos Papadakis will demonstrate his career work in creating Byzantine carving, John Jensen will demonstrate his style of creating decorative fishing decoys, and Richard Byrne, a former postal employee, will demonstrate his style of creating likenesses of postage stamps.

Katha Dance Theatre, Crystal
$5,000; to hold a weeklong summer dance festival, including workshops and performances by international artists and local people

Lanesboro Arts Council, Lanesboro
$5,000; to sponsor Bluff Country Gathering, a four-day event presenting American traditional fiddle, banjo, guitar, and singing styles in workshops, concerts, and dance

Minnesota Chinese Dance Theater, Saint Paul
$3,468; to present a 2003 New Year Celebration, including folk dances not usually seen in the Twin Cities
