Cultural Community Partnership Grants
Cultural Community Partnership grants are designed to enhance the careers of individual artists of color.
Artists can apply for grants to help support a collaborative project with another Minnesota artist of color or a Minnesota nonprofit organization.

Ananya Dance Theatre, Minneapolis | $ 5,000 | Mankwe Ndosi will collaborate with Ananya Dance Theatre to create an evening-length dance piece inspired by stories of women and water. Entitled “Mohona, estuaries of desire” it will premier at the Southern Theater in September, 2013. |
Rachel S. Chomet, Saint Paul | $ 8,000 | Sun Mee Chomet, actor and playwright, will collaborate with filmmaker Jason Ho to create the documentary, Adoptee: Go Home, a film that explores the complexity of international adoption through the lens of one individual journey. A public screening will be held in Saint Paul. |
Cléa M. Galhano, Saint Paul | $ 8,000 | Galhano will develop Latin Reverie, a Latin program, with guitarist Rene Izquierdo, and perform it in Saint Paul at The Baroque Room in the fall of 2013. |
Paula M. Gudmundson, Vadnais Heights | $ 8,000 | Gudmundson will record, perform, and promote a CD of works from Latin America for flute, entitled Viva La Flauta! at MacPhail Center for Music. |
Aramis Ikatu, Minneapolis | $ 8,000 | Ikatu will photograph musicians' work and daily lives in Minneapolis and Havana and create a photo exhibition to be presented at concerts of collaborating partner Charanga Tropical. |
Malichansouk Kouanchao, Minneapolis | $ 8,000 | Mali Kouanchao will collaborate with the Lao Assistance Center to create a visual arts exhibit in North Minneapolis commemorating 30 years of work with the Lao Minnesotan Diaspora. |
Vong Lee, Saint Paul | $ 8,000 | Vong Lee and Tou Yia Vang will create a hip-hop album that uses traditional Hmong instruments and encompasses the Hmong American urban experience. The project will result in a public tour of libraries, community centers, and businesses throughout Saint Paul. |
Pangea World Theater, Minneapolis | $ 8,000 | Laurie Carlos will develop her play, Pork Chop Wars, through a series of workshops at Pangea World Theater. The project will culminate in a staged reading, open for the public, in the Pangea studio space in November 2013. |
Rain Taxi, Inc., Minneapolis | $ 7,500 | Rain Taxi will publish a chapbook of new literary work by Dessa, and feature her in an interview in Rain Taxi Review of Books. A public reading and discussion in the Twin Cities is also scheduled. |
Kisha D. Richburg, Vadnais Heights | $ 8,000 | Collaborating with Rohene Ward, Richburg will produce a public concert that blends modern dance and figure skating, focusing on the role African American history and cultural legacy plays in identity. |
Reynaldo Rivera, Saint Paul | $ 8,000 | Rey Rivera will develop his Latin jazz repertoire to include the music of Tito Puente as part of the Jazz at Studio Z concert series. |
Annie K. Rollins, Minneapolis | $ 7,300 | Rollins will collaborate with the Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota to provide Chinese shadow puppetry workshops in tandem with a live performance of the original shadow play, There's Nothing to Tell. |
Terry L. Williams, Rosemount | $ 8,000 | Terry Williams will create mixed media three-dimensional work that incorporate the life stories of north Minneapolis residents. He will display his work at FLOW art crawl in north Minnepolis in July 2013 and in a separate solo exhibit later in 2013. |
